Wilbur’s work skilfully forges a relationship between photography and sculpture. Both dimensions encapsulate the energy and motion inherent in his subject matter.
Wilbur captures a feeling of fluidity in his minimalist steel sculptures. The figures project an elegance, vitality and strength; the empty spaces cut into the metal altering the viewer’s perceptions of solidity.
Similarly, Wilbur’s photographic work resonates with the same sense of movement, transition and fluid quality. The artist’s intensely detailed images from nature incorporate pattern and texture that contribute to an almost abstract composition, making them far less representational than is first apparent.
Wilbur has exhibited in New York, London and throughout the UK. His work is held in notable private collections.
