rakerman
rakerman records positions and re-arranges objects in both urban and landscape locations throughout the world. The result of this documentation has evolved into complex, textural works on paper, that play with the concept of the invisible and the visible.
Some of these works, entitled the ‘Visible Projects’, attempt to make visible those things one does not normally see, or that can be taken for granted. Drawings are frequently made directly from ubiquitous surfaces such as walls, stairs, tables, paths and floors.
rakerman’s work can easily be interpreted as one or several different identifiable objects, yet at the same time the artist depicts something the viewer does not recognise at all.
rakerman trained at Ravensbourne School of Art and later opened his first London studio in 1991. He continues to exhibit in London, with work held in the V&A permanent collection and has won awards including the BBC Design Awards.
